We normally lotion him twice a day with regular Johnson and Johnson lotion. The doctor said that we can%26#039;t use regular lotion anymore. We have to use a cream. She recommended aveeno or eucerin. Is there anyting else out there that you would recommend?|||my son had extremely dry skin.. i too was using Johnson%26#039;s %26amp; johnsons.. the doctor told me that the baby lotion only smells good.. he recommended eucerin or cetaphil.. i choose cetephil because it was less greasy and said it was for all ages.. i started using it when he was 4 months old, i use it once a day, we have not had any breakouts, and i get compliments all the time on how soft his skin is.. he is now 15 months old.|||I have a son with eczema since infancy, he has severe food allergies too. We use cetaphil cream, it is in a tub the pump is lotion and is thinner. We did not have success with Eucerin or aquaphor both have lanolin as an ingredient, this is a wool derivative and known irritant to some. Johnson and Johnson has alcohol in it and is drying. I have never tried aveeno, I%26#039;ve only seen aveeno lotion not cream. We do use aveeno body wash and aveeno sunscreen with great results. Also we use All free and clear detergent.
Cetaphil is what was recommended by the dermatologist and allergist for my son
Immediately after the bath get the cream on him to seal in the moisture|||My nephew has eczema as well, and my sister uses Aveeno on him. I know it%26#039;s kind of pricy, but it really helps! also every now and then you can give him an Aveeno oatmeal bath. That helps soothe the itching, and helps his skin too. After the oatmeal bath, just smooth on the Aveeno cream and if it%26#039;s really severe put it on and then have him wear long sleeves and long pants to bed, if the heat won%26#039;t bother him! Good Luck!!!|||nope, you sure cant use regular lotion. i have eczema since i was around 3 or 4. ive always had to use unscented body soaps, hand soaps, lotions, etc. yes aveeno is very good for eczema. all my life i tried all kinds of lotions for it and then my mom bought aveeno for the first time and it was the only lotion that actually worked, it keeps your skin moisterized and oatmeal is great for eczema. one doctor i saw actually recommended i take baths with oatmeal a couple times a week. i have tried eucerin too because my pediatrician had recommended we use it, but it didnt do much, it was nothing special. do you use johnsons body wash for his baths? if you do you should condsider switching to either an unscented sensitive skin one or the baby aveeno body wash.
also you may want to feed him foods that give your skin a little oil such as avacado and peanuts. i was recommended that by my current doctor. and also dont take too many baths.|||My nephew has excema, and his parents use Aquaphor cream on him. It%26#039;s made my Eucerin. They also put him in long pants more than shorts because he has allergies which make the excema worse. As a baby I had excema, and my doctor prescribed a hydrocortisone cream to use on the places that were really itchy.|||Johnson actually made my sons eczema worse =(
He developed his eczema at 3 months old and it got so bad his skin was peeling and drying up, he is now 7 months and it is under control. We have a prescribed steroid cream we use if he has a breakout and gets all red. Other than that we use aquaphur which is by eucerin. It is amazing, I recommend it to everyone!|||My sister had eczema growing up. She used Lubriderm alot but also her doctor prescribed a medicated cream to her as well. Don%26#039;t use anything with fragrance. Eucerin is really good because it is a THICK lotion and really coats the skin with moisture. I used it during pregnancy. Good luck!!|||Use A Light Moisturiser Once A Day, If You Overload On The Products It Can Really Cause His Skin To Itch.
I Use Protopic Cream, It%26#039;s Prescibed By The Docs Though.
My Eczema Was Really Bad And I Had It All My Life, With This Cream The Rash And Itch Had Completely Gone.
The Price Of This Cream Is About 拢50 A Tube So I Would Go Ask The Docs Bout It.
X|||start keeping a food diary. avoid processed foods %26amp; milk products, give him lotsa water, and follow up with a dermatologist %26amp; allergist.|||my lil one has the same use gentle naturals. it works great|||I have had eczema all my life. I am 19 and i was diagnosed with when i was a couple months old.
The cream that has seem to work the best with me is aveeno. Make sure you buy the one that said that help relieve itching. Trust me your son is going to feel like scratching and that just make the whole thing worse. Also make sure his shower are short. Try to limit his bath time to 10 min, shorter time if you can. The water dries the skin even more.
I also found out that covering my skin were i have the eczema with milk and oatmeals helps a lot, most of all when the skin feels hot in the infected area. Let see what else can i said. Ohh yeah, also if you don%26#039;t moisturize his skin often, his skin will become really dried and crack and bleed (it has happen to me). If that ever happen make sure that part of skin doesn%26#039;t touch water b/c the chemicals they put in the water to clean it and make it drinkable, would be uncomfortable in the skin, it feel like its burning a little. Its not painful, just really uncomfortable. Also pools with lots of chloride would make his eczema worse for a couple days. I also have found that been in the sun alot make my eczema act out, so make sure he wears sun scream, even in winter. MAke sure you change his bed covers often b/c the dry skin flakes that fall of will attract little critters.
ALso you should try to look for trigger. SOme things might make his eczema worser. LIke certain materials and weather. When you notice that hapening try to find out what makes it act out. I relieaze that for me it was heat and excessive sweating (which is the reason i like winter). Maake sure his cloths dosent have wool, because wool is scratchy. ANd you want to reduce as much scratching as posiblle.
Also make sure you have his nail nice and cut, so he wont hurt himself scratching or infect the area.
ALso i relieze when my eczema is acting out i would scratch myself when i was a sleep. I would wake up with nail scratches and blood on the covers. I know is not nice. Which is the reason he needs his nails short and also tried to make sure he wear some kind of gloves at night so he wont scratch himself. I wear a pair every night.
Also try to make sure the body soap that you use in his body is unscented . If you can go natural with his bath products, that would be aswome. I had found out they irritate my skin less.
Dont worry if you keep his sking moisterrize and short showers and so on, his eczema should be control and it would be like he dosent have it.
ALso sometimes the eczema might disappear compretely. It will go in remission and the stmptoms will dissappear but it dosent mean he dosent have it any more. He still should moisterize his skin every day and take short showers. When my went on remission it went away for about 5 years.
Also before i forget Make sure you avoid
excessive scrubbing and toweling after bathing your child. Instead, gently pat your child%26#039;s skin dry.
giving your child frequent hot baths, which tend to dry the skin.
Make sure
your child drink plenty of water, which adds moisture to the skin.
I think that all have to said, if forget something i come back
